Description

Height: 50 meters
Mass: 17,000 tons

Powers & Weapons:
- Kangaroo Kick: By leaping into the air, Gorosaurus can thrust out with his legs to deliver quick, kangaroo-like kicks. However, when he does this same technique but balances himself on his tail, he can deliver an even stronger blow thanks to focusing all of his weight into his thrusting feet.

Biography: Discovered in 1978 on the island of Mondo, a species of prehistoric dinosaur still thrived. Locked in a deadly stalemate with a primate species resembling King Kong of Faro, the saurians competed for land and food. However, one member of the reptiles was a true force to be reckoned with. Standing as tall as Godzilla, this Gorosaurus devoured apes by the many and threatened the existence of both species. He could very well eat the smaller, thirty-meter gorillas into extinction! In order to prevent this so that further study could be made, a hard decision was reached to transport this huge member of the species to Monsterland, becoming one of the first new denizens after the destruction of Monster Island in 1973.

Once on the island, Gorosaurus became one of the most renowned contenders for the throne of the king of the monsters. He knew virtually no fear from his previous position as alpha of his kind. On more than one occasion he got in conflict with Anguirus, drawing Godzilla into battle. Other monsters, such as Baragon and Rodan, often shied away from Gorosaurus whenever he was around. He was the only kaiju of the island that never backed down from Godzilla.

In a surprise move, Gorosaurus did find a “friend” in the form of Mothra. The Infant Island goddess made her home within the territory of Gorosaurus, turning them into neighbors. When Mothra was slumbering during her first month on the island, Baragon attempted to ambush her but Gorosaurus interfered, causing the horned dinosaur to retreat. This protection, which is believed to have been done to protect his land more than Mothra, made the insect return the favor and often warn Gorosaurus of approaching dangers and even pointing out nearby food. As of 1998, Mothra remains the only monster Gorosaurus has not gotten into a fight with.

Eyes of the Earth

From the journal of Dr. Otani,

Personally, this is my favorite of kaiju. Gorosaurus is just a pure specimen of raw, prehistoric power. How this specific member of the Gorosaur family grew so large is a mystery, but one thing is for sure: he is a force to be reckoned with. Of all kaiju on the island, he is the one that has caused more problems for Godzilla in just a year than all the others have in ten. Thus far, my theory on Godzilla’s atomic breath affecting kaiju brains isn’t holding up when it comes to Gorosaurus. However, this may actually be because the Gorosaurs have relatively small brains. Even at his increased size, this alpha’s brain would be about ¼ the size of Godzilla’s, Anguirus’, and Rodan’s.

Make no mistake this, he knows how to fight. Boy does this monster know how to fight. Being able to send someone like Kumonga fleeing after delivering a single blow is a feat in and of itself.

The most mysterious thing about this super-sized dinosaur is his relationship with Mothra. I believe this could very well be a true story of the mouse and the lion. Why he hasn’t ever attacked her, I do not know. I doubt anybody will ever know without the Shobijin around anymore.

Eyes of the Kilaakians

What a monster! All of the other beasts only required one control device… Gorosaurus needed two. This is a beast with aggression issues that would make King Ghidorah blush. This makes for a perfect weapon and I have already ordered his deployment to Mexico City. I do fear that once all is said and done, Gorosaurus may need to be put down. His aggression is that severe. I hope not, though. As once a proud warrior race, we can respect this scaly titan and his never back down attitude.

No matter the outcome, this is a monster we Kilaakians can be proud of taming. If we can subdue a behemoth such as this, there is no question to our technological power. The Earthlings wanted to sentence us to death and now we have enslaved death incarnate. We will not accept the surrender nor show any mercy when they see this giant approaching their cities.
